Resources I Love!

1. Classcraft: Classroom management made fun! This is a lot like Class Dojo but better for older students. The characters are very video-game-ish, and students get to customize them. Teachers create their class rosters, then group students into teams. You can customize points, events, etc so that they work for you. Students love the random events! http://game.classcraft.com/home

2. Goosebumps writers workshop: No one can deny that RL Stine knows what he is doing. To get students interested, we watched the Goosebumps movie and each student had a scary story they were reading. Then we followed RL Stine's program and had a blast writing our own scary stories! http://www.thenightmareroom.com/writing-program.htm

3. Newsela: This website is a go-to for non-fiction articles that can relate to nearly anything you are teaching. I go here to pull articles to go with stories or books that we are reading in class. It also has up to date, current articles. The best part is you can pick a lexile level (which is great for RSP) and you can get quizzes for each article. They make great last minute sub plans, or I also like to send an article home every week for students to close read, then quiz on Friday. http://newsela.com/
